Project Colossus -PREVIEW-

It was another one of those dreams. All alone in some dark forest... I hated this dream. I hated the feeling I got from it. Being truly alone, maybe. I'm not sure. But I never understood it, the feeling I got from the dreams or why I was having it, and honestly, I don't think I want to. I know true pain is from not knowing, but something about this... this dream, and what it means, I just don't want to know.

I finally woke up in my bed. I breathed a sigh as I got up and went to get dressed. I tossed a pair of jeans on the floor, the ones I had worn yesterday, and a small white envelop fell out of the back pocket - but I never put anything in my back pockets. I noticed when it fell, because it made a sound when it hit the floor, like something metal was inside.

I finished getting dressed before picking up the envelop. "Weird..." I said to myself. I don't remember having put this in my pocket. I figured it must have been there for a while, and I just forgot. I sat on the end on my bed and opened it. I was expecting a note-to-self inside, maybe, and some change which had made the sound. But instead, out of the envelop fell a tiny key, landing in the palm of my hand. I held it up to the light coming in from the window in my room to get a better look.

I had never seen this key before. And I definitely didn't put it there. I would have remembered something that looked like this, the mark on it was... special, I guess. There was something odd about it, but I shrugged it off. I crumbled the envelop and stuck the key back in my pocket, then headed downstairs, ready to go outside.

"Where are you going so soon? You just woke up." My mother had asked me as I passed through the kitchen.

"It's almost twelve o'clock! You should wake up earlier." That was my brother. He had been sitting at the table eating lunch.

"Haha." I muttered as I turned around. At first I wondered why my mother wasn't at work, then realized it was Saturday. My father walked in from the living room, and greeted me with a smile.

"I must have fallen asleep waiting for Lynn to get online. We were supposed to play a video game last night with Kate and Victor. We were going to prove who is the better team. Kate didn't show up, either, actually... I guess she was getting ready for her concert today. That's what Victor said." I explained, although no one had asked.

"Maybe Lynn forgot." My father suggested. I nodded in agreement.

"I'm just going to head over to Kate's house. Her concert is tonight and she needs some help to prepare." I started out again, but my mother stopped me once more.

"Aren't you hungry? Why don't you get something to eat?"

"No, I'm not hungry." I opened the refrigerator and grabbed a soda. Dr Pepper, my favorite. "I'll take this, though."
